The madness of the American election cycle is finally behind us, and honestly, I feel lighter. While politics has its place, there’s only so much we can take before it chips away at our focus and energy. I’d rather put that energy toward something that matters—like helping you build a life and career that feels genuinely good.

I rarely wade into politics—it’s a divisive space. I’d rather focus on what brings us together than on what the suits in the capital are up to. But there was so much noise this time around! Maybe I’m just getting more put off by it all.

Some of you will be happy with the results, others won’t be. That is the nature of the system. But here’s the thing: no matter which side you were rooting for, it’s (finally!) over. The time you spent analyzing, debating, and reacting is behind you. Now, you’re back to where you’ve always been—faced with the responsibility of building your own life and making it amazing.

It’s time to focus on building.

Refocusing on What You Control

We’ve all fallen into the trap at one point or another – giving in to the urge to dig into debates, get the latest news, or watch the outrage unfold. But let’s be real: most of the time, that energy is just going out into the void.

What if you took that same energy and put it toward something that actually impacts your life every single day?

What if, instead of analyzing the headlines, you used it to create a career, a mindset, and relationships that make you feel alive and grounded?

Imagine how your career, your mindset, and your relationships might evolve if the time invested in “big picture” news turned into time invested in your big picture.

When you focus on what you can actually control, that’s when space for change opens up.

Steps to Reclaim Your Focus

  1. Pause the Noise. Staying updated can be great—but only to a point. Protect your energy and attention. Replace the endless news cycle with tangible actions that push you closer to your own dreams.
  2. Define Your Priorities. Think about what genuinely matters right now. Health? Career growth? Pick one or two areas and direct your focus there. When you’re clear on what counts, the noise fades away.
  3. Invest in Yourself. Instead of constantly analyzing what’s happening “out there,” start building something for yourself. Shift the focus back to your own story. Take a course, schedule that coffee chat, or finally dive into that side project. Move your own needle forward—that’s what makes a difference in your life.
  4. Measure Progress, Not Headlines. Progress can sometimes be subtle—a conversation that leads to new ideas, a skill you master, or even a day where you protect your energy instead of reacting. Keep a journal or simply note these small wins; they add up.

Time to Build

Life’s too short to watch from the sidelines. You don’t build an amazing life by waiting for the right leader or the perfect moment. That’s all on you. So take this time as an invitation to reset, refocus, and start building. You have the power to shape your path in a way no election ever could.

Now, let’s get building! 💪🏻

Quotation that I’ve been pondering

This week’s quote comes from Mark Twain:

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.”

Simplistic? Yes. But it’s also true. It’s incredible how much time we can spend thinking about what we need to do, when we could just go do it.

Action > planning.

Journal prompt

You’re always going to have problems in your life. But as you grow and expand, the quality of the problems you get to solve increases. Which leads to a powerful question for reflection:

“What problems am I now facing which I would have once begged to have?”

This is a powerful way to reframe a challenge you’re facing.
